Keynote Session

Resilience and Belonging Through Befriending

Through songs and powerful storytelling, The Journey Home reframes resilience and belonging through the lens of befriending. Rather than treating resilience as simply “pushing through,” participants are invited to discover how unexpected acts of friendship weave the threads of belonging—threads that become a springboard for resilience, healing, and flourishing. This moving and engaging session traces the multidimensional journey toward home of an immigrant whose life is shaped, interrupted, and ultimately transformed by unexpected friendships. Through story, music, and reflection, participants are invited to reconsider what sustains us when life fractures, and how belonging is often found not in self-sufficiency, but in shared humanity.

Session One

Session One: Boxes

Focus: Bias Awareness & Workplace Dynamics

Songs: Boxes & Let’s Face It

Participants explore how unconscious assumptions and cognitive biases shape perception, relationships, and decision-making at work. Through story and song, this session invites greater self-awareness and responsibility for how we “box” one another—often without realizing it.

Session Two

Session Two: Back to Life

Focus: Social Connection at the Workplace

Songs: Back to Life & Home

Participants explore how connection is a foundational building block towards a culture of belonging. Through story and song, this session invites greater self-awareness and responsibility for how we engage at work—often without realizing it.

Session Three

Session Three: Safe House

Focus: Psychological Safety & Trust

Songs: Safe House & You Won’t Let Go

This session centers on what it means to create a safe house at work—a culture where people feel able to speak honestly, take risks, ask for help, and show up fully. Participants examine how leadership behaviors, power, and norms either expand or restrict psychological safety.

Session Four

Session Four: Beautiful Scar

Focus: Conflict, Resilience & Rewriting Narratives

Songs: Beautiful Scar, God’s Tears & Stalemate

Rather than treating resilience as “pushing through,” this session reframes it as the capacity to make meaning from hardship. Participants reflect on how personal and collective experiences of failure, conflict, or change shape workplace culture—and how new narratives can emerge.
